
Floyd Schofield’s father has appeared to retract his comments in which he claimed that his son had been poisoned by a member of Shakur Stevenson’s team.
Schofield was withdrawn from his scheduled bout with Stevenson on Saturday in Riyadh after falling ill on Tuesday and being hospitalised.
‘Kid Austin’ was later discharged, but the British Boxing Board of Control, who oversee all Riyadh Season events opted to remove him from the bout all together, which Josh Padley stepping in to replace him.
In a now-deleted post on the 22-year-old’s X page, which is believed to be handled by his father, it read: “They poisoned my son.”
Schofield Sr suggested a masseuse who is part of Stevenson’s team “wiped a cream on my son.”

However, he has since appeared to take back those suggestions, insisting his team cannot be held accountable for the situation.
“In all due respect we cannot blame Shakur or his team,” he said on X.
“I believe Shakur wanted to really fight KID.
“We wish Shakur and his team success. I hope we can fight in the near future.
“All things are forgiven.”

Schofield was absent from the Grand Arrivals event on Tuesday, with Stevenson’s promoter Eddie Hearn telling IFLTV that the New Jersey man was training to make a check weight on Wednesday.
A statement from his promoter, Golden Boy read: “Yesterday, Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield Jr. fell ill and was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
“In the interest of Schofield’s health and safety, the British Boxing Board of Control made the decision to cancel his scheduled bout against Shakur Stevenson.

“Schofield has since been discharged from the hospital and is awaiting the results of his medical evaluation.
“We extend our gratitude to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, SELA, and the medical professionals who provided Schofield with care.”
Stevenson, 27, will make a second defence of his WBC lightweight world title against Padley, who stunned Mark Chamberlain in September and appears in his first world title fight.
