Ben Shalom has outlined the next step for Chris Eubank Jr, after last night’s news that the Brighton man will be fined £100,000 for slapping Conor Benn with an egg at last month’s launch press conference for their April 26 grudge match.
Shalom was on of those in attendance in Manchester, when Eubank Jr cracked the egg over Benn as the pair faced off following some heated verbal exchanges.
Chaos ensued, with Nigel Benn grabbing ‘Next Gen’ by the throat and Eddie Hearn even gave the BOXXER boss a shove, before security were able to separate the two teams.
A financial penalty for Eubank has been expected, though many feel £100,000 is on the high end, given previous British Boxing Board of Control fines for other offences.
And speaking to Sky Sports, Shalom described the figure as “extremely over the top and ridiculously out of all proportion,” and added Eubank “is left with no choice but to appeal.”

Benn also disagrees with the amount his rival will have to pay – though he believes it should be ten times more.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans two days after the incident, he boldly stated Eubank should be forced to pay a £1,000,000 fine.

“I think he should get a million pound fine for the slap,” the 28-year-old told Pro Boxing Fans.
“Just due to the profile of the fight.
“I feel like it would be an injustice if it was anything less than a million pounds.”
Though Eubank will likely be displeased at the figure he must now part with, the attention brought to the fight from the egg slap will no doubt increase his purse enough to more than cover the difference.
The two family rivals will lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in one of the biggest all-British clashes of all time and, with a two-way contractual rematch clause in place, there’s every chance they’ll get to double their money.
