Headlines were made last month, when Eddie Hearn proposed a seven-figure bet with Ben Shalom over the outcome of the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn fight.
Hearn suggested the bet with Shalom during a chaotic press tour for the April 26 showdown, during which Eubank Jr slapped Benn across the face with an egg and was subsequently fined £100,000 for his troubles.
After some initial reluctance from the BOXXER CEO, his fighter swooped in and claimed he would take the Brentwood promoter up on his offer.
The Matchroom boss then backtracked and stated the British Boxing Board of Control would not allow such a wager – however Shalom has this week claimed that is not the case and the bet could still take place.
Speaking on Froch on Fighting, the 31-year-old explained the £1,000,000 could be up for grabs as a “bonus” between the two camps, and that he was happy to play Hearn’s game.

“That bet – and I’ve looked into it – can go ahead between the two promoters as a promoter bonus.
“Eddie made that bet, whatever we want to call it, one camp will pay the other camp a million if it loses.
“We’re on, I’m on. There’s a way to do it.
“I know he’s going on about all these rules, but it’s perfectly legal. You’re perfectly entitled to have a bonus for each camp based off winning and losing.
“It’s been done in fights in the past. So for me, that bet is on and there’s no reason it doesn’t happen.
“Eddie stuck it on us, so I’m hoping he’ll stand on it.”

At the time of writing, Hearn hasn’t yet responded to Shalom’s comments, but it looks like there may have just been yet another element of spice added to one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.
Eubank Jr and Benn will settle a beef of almost two-and-a-half years at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a month’s time, dating back to when their October 2022 meeting was cancelled during fight week, after Benn failed a drugs test.
