American boxer, Shannon Briggs, wants to face Tyson Fury when both have had their bans lifted, as he called out the former champion when speaking to Sky Sports.
Briggs, 45, failed a drugs test back in June ahead of a bout with Fres Oquendo but his suspension is to be lifted today, though the American will have to await the UK Anti-Doping Agency decision on Fury before a fight can be scheduled.
When speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Briggs said, “My target is Tyson Fury. He’s a chump, he’s a punk, he shot some words at me on Twitter but he’s scared of me. “It’s a tough road back for him and I’m a fight that he doesn’t want.”
“This is the biggest fight for both of us, besides him getting a massive title fight. If he needs a tune-up for a title fight, why not fight a 45,000-year-old man? I like Fury but I want to knock him out. Once I knock out ‘the whale’ – that’s what I call Fury – I bet that Wladimir Klitschko will come back [to fight me].”
Both boxers have had their personal problems, with both publicly speaking about depression and neither have boxed for over a year. A fight could be on the cards as rumours of Frank Warren attempting to initiate a ‘comeback’ between the two but nothing has been set in concrete.
In October 2017, Fury responded to Briggs after the 45 year old looked to be calling the ‘Gypsy King’ out on Twitter.
