Sky Sports reveal boxing schedule after Top Rank and Boxxer deals

Sky Sports have announced their new bumper boxing schedule after striking deals with Top Rank and BOXXER, with Chris Eubank Jr headlining the first show on October 2.

As reported by proboxing-fans.com October 2 will mark BOXXER’s first show on Sky Sports, on Friday, with Eubank Jr who is signed to Wasserman Boxing headlining against Sven Elbir.

BOXXER have also acquired the likes of Richard Riakporhe and David Avanesyan who will appear on the bill.

A second show on October 16 in Newcastle, first reported by proboxing-fans.com on Friday has also been confirmed with Hughie Fury headlining against Christian Hammer.

WBO middleweight world champion, Savannah Marshall will also fight on the card as well as Newcastle fan favourite Lewis Ritson.

As part of their deal with US promotional outfit, Top Rank, Sky Sports have confirmed they will broadcast Oscar Valdez’s WBC super featherweight title defence against Robson Conceicao, Jamel Herring’s WBO super featherweight title defence against Shakur Stevenson on October 23 and Josh Taylor’s undisputed title clash with Jack Catterall on December 18.

Sky Sports’ exclusive deal with Matchroom Boxing in the UK and Ireland concluded in June with the promotional company signing an exclusive five-year global deal with streaming service, DAZN, ending an over eight-year partnership with Sky Sports.

The leading UK broadcaster announced shortly afterwards that they had signed two new rights deals with promoters, Top Rank and BOXXER to show 18 international fight nights per year.

Sky Sports began their new partnership with Top Rank on June 12 with three consecutive shows in Las Vegas, starting with former featherweight world champion, Shakur Stevenson’s unanimous decision win over Jeremia Nakathila.
