TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” sets down at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona on Friday, August 20 with a hard-hitting night of boxing including a tough test for Riverside, California featherweight Michael Franco as he puts his “0” on the line when he battles Adolfo Landeros in the eight round main event.
In the co-feature, another unbeaten star on the rise will see action when the latest Filipino phenom, unbeaten 22-year-old lightweight Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta risks his perfect record against Mexican veteran Genaro Trazancos in an eight round lightweight bout.
Riverside, California’s Michael “Lil’ Warrior” Franco (16-0, 11 KO’s) is one of the fight game’s top young talents and, despite being only 23-years-old, he’s shown a veteran’s poise in his wins over Juan Jose Beltran and Kermin Guardia. Winner of his last three bouts by knockout, Franco is looking forward to testing himself against the vastly more experienced veteran Adolfo “El Terror” Landeros (20-14-1, 9 KO’s). A native of Mexico City, Landeros is a former IBA and WBC Fecarbox champion and is expected to test Franco’s resolve on August 20.
22-year old southpaw Mercito Gesta (18-0-1, 8 KO’s) has garnered a significant amount of praise from boxing insiders since turning pro in 2003 and, after scoring knockouts in four of his last six bouts, the Cebu, Philippines native is clearly on his way to the top. In his most recent bout on June 4, Gesta stopped Oscar Meza in four rounds to win the NABO youth lightweight title. On August 20, he will seek his third victory at the Casino Del Sol against his toughest test to date in Trazancos.
Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico native Genaro Trazancos (24-11, 14 KO’s) has been a fixture on the fight scene since his professional debut in 1995 and is well known for his willingness to step into the ring with anyone, anywhere, anytime. He has fought a who’s who of boxing from World Champions such as Steven Luevano, Edwin Valero and Roman “Rocky” Martinez to top prospects like Mike Dallas.
In additional undercard action, hot Ghanaian prospect Abdullai Amidu (14-0, 12 KO’s) takes on an opponent to be determined in a six round welterweight bout, Nogales, Mexico’s Noe Lopez (5-5, 4 KO’s) faces Mission, Texas’ Guadalupe Leon (8-11, 4 KO’s) in a six round junior lightweight bout, while three of Tucson’s finest round out the undercard, with unbeaten middleweight Pahoron Gastellum (2-0) looking to go to 3-0 in a four round matchup against Steven Macomber (3-8) of Lakeside, California, light heavyweight Kevin Rioingin (1-1) taking on Phoenix’s Kenny Curtis (0-1) in a four round battle and power punching heavyweight Eric Woods (5-1, 4 KO’s) stepping back into the ring in a six round fight against an opponent to be named.

TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” will be broadcast at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT). Doors open at 7:00pm PT and the first bell rings at 7:30pm PT.
