Solo Boxeo Gets Started with a Hot Summer Tonight

Tonight in Puerto Rico, then to So Cal and the Rio Grande Valley in Coming Weeks

Golden Boy Promotions is excited to present boxing’s top prospects across the country this summer on TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” with the hard-hitting season kicking off tonight in Puerto Rico, followed by stops on June 11 in San Diego and June 18 in McAllen, Texas.

Puerto Rico’s top prospects will take to the ring at the Coliseo Rafael G. Amalbert in Juncos, Puerto Rico on Friday, June 4, as “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” returns to the island for an explosive night of boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Miguel Cotto Promotions.  In the main event, scheduled for ten rounds in the featherweight division, hard-hitting Las Piedras native Luis Cruz puts his 13-0 (10 KO’s) record on the line against fellow unbeaten Eric Estrada (8-0, 3 KO’s) of Chicago.  The co-main event of the evening features Caguas junior featherweight Jayson Velez (12-0, 10 KO’s) as he squares off against Caguas’s Juan Cruz (5-5, 1 KO) in a six round bout.

Next week, on Friday, June 11, Golden Boy Promotions and “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” return to Southern California for an action-packed card at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego.  Headlining this six-bout card, which will be presented along with Jorge Marron Promotions, will be a 10-round junior featherweight bout between unbeaten Chula Vista prospect Christopher Martin (17-0, 5 KO’s) and Adolfo Landeros (19-13-1, 9 KO’s) from Hidalgo, Mexico.  In the co-feature, unbeaten Luis Enrique Grajeda (9-0, 7 KO’s) of Chihuahua Chihuahua, Mexico faces countryman Jaime Orrantia (13-26-5, 4 KO’s) of Los Mochis Sinaloa, Mexico in a six-round welterweight matchup.  Also featured on the card will be San Diego’s own Lester Gonzalez (10-0, 6 KO’s) when he risks his perfect pro record in four/six round junior middleweight fight against San Jose’s Steve Macomber (3-8-1).

But that’s not all, as on Friday, June 18 “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” heads to the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas with the game’s top young talent for an event presented along with Cavazos Boxing.  In the main event, Santa Ana, California’s Luis Ramos (15-0, 8 KO’s) battles an opponent to be determined in an eight round lightweight bout.  Joining him on the card will be Weslaco power puncher Omar “Panterita” Figueroa (9-0, 8 KO’s), who takes on Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico’s vastly more experienced Julian Rodriguez (17-18-4, 11 KO’s) in a junior welterweight six rounder.  Also on the card is Houston welterweight prospect Jermell Charlo (11-0, 5 KO’s) who will look for his 12th pro win against an opponent to be announced in a four/six round fight.
