Undefeated German super middleweight Stefan Haertel (6-0) returns to action on September 5 at the EnergieVerbund Arena in Dresden, Germany.
The former amateur star looks to continue his good run of form as he takes on Ivan Jukic (21-5, 14 KOs) on the undercard of Juergen Braehmer’s WBA World Light Heavyweight title defence against Konni Konrad.
‘’I believe my last fight was my best yet as a pro,’’ said Haertel, who recorded a unanimous points victory over Maurice Possiti in July. ‘’Possiti was a tough opponent, but the more he tried to put me under pressure, the more he played into my hands, and the more I was able to shine.’’
Ahead of his ring return, Haertel’s pre-fight preparations have received a big boost. The 27 year-old has spent three weeks in Big Bear sparring with Team Sauerland stablemate George Groves as the British fighter prepares for a WBC World title challenge against Badou Jack.
‘’This was a great experience for me,’’ said Haertel. ‘’The sparring with George was tough, but hopefully it has been beneficial for both of us. George is already in great shape, and on September 12, I believe he will become Team Sauerland’s next World Champion!’’
Having returned to Germany, Haertel has resumed training with coach Karsten Roewer and his troop of Sauerland fighters including Juergen Braehmer. Not averse to some friendly competition with the WBA World Champion, the ambitious Haertel has laid the following plan: ‘’First, I will beat Juergen in our forest runs and then I will defeat Jukic on September 5!’’
