Thomas Dulorme (18-1, 13 KOs) will continue his road to redemption as he goes for his 3rd consecutive win on August 17th against Francisco Figueroa (20-5-1, 13 KOs). The bout will be Televised on HBO Latino which will begin immediately after the HBO Boxing After Dark tripleheader concludes, approximately 12:30 a.m. ET/PT.
Dulorme is anxious to get back in the ring and he has been emphatic about staying busy. This will be his 3rd fight of the year and he has no intention on slowing down.
“I’m just excited to get back into the ring, staying busy keeps me focused and motivated. My head is never clearer than when I am preparing for a fight. It takes a toll on most fighters, but I’m centered and very relaxed. I owe the fight game a lot and I am doing this for my fans, the people who believe in me. I want to show my supporters that their belief in me is based on actual ability, and when I am on top I will share that moment with those who stuck by me, especially my promoters Gary Shaw, Javier Bustillo and Lou DiBella,” Dulorme said.
Dulorme’s goal consists of future title expectations and although his hopes have been slightly derailed, he knows that he has the talent to get there quicker than most.
“If you’re not in the sport to become champion then what’s the point? I have every intention on winning a title one day and I know that it is a real goal, one that I have control of accomplishing. I have a strong support group and plenty of people in my corner that believe in me, but from this point on I must make believers out of everyone else. Come fight night, I will make believers out of anyone who may still have doubts. I’m grateful to be on HBO and get the platform to show that I am ready to challenge for a world title, I will prove that I am the kind of fighter that belongs on American television on a regular basis,” Dulorme said.
Dulorme is hoping to find some new life in the junior welterweight division and he began the transition in his last fight, he is hoping to create some momentum towards title contention. Gary Shaw is confident that Dulorme at junior welterweight is a good fit and he will become a champion at the weight class.
“Thomas is a young fighter and young guys are always finding themselves, but he is special because he is so far ahead of his age group. The maturity level he displayed after his setback was tremendously inspiring, he will challenge for a world title and he has the potential to be one of the best fighters in the division period,” Shaw said.
The opportunity for Dulorme to display his skills on HBO Latino is big and his handlers know that an impressive performance could launch his career even further. Javier Bustillo of Universal Promotions, the co-promoter of the bout, is one of those individuals that expect a huge reaction from the television audience.
“Some athletes just know how to step up when the time calls for it and Thomas is one of those guys. Motivation is a strong factor and Thomas doesn’t need any extra incentive to put on a quality performance, but he knows that he can greatly benefit from a strong performance. The fact is there will be many viewers who will be watching Thomas for the first time and he doesn’t look at that as added pressure, but instead as a chance to showcase skills. The guy is a real peacock and he loves to put his feathers on display,” Bustillo said.
“Dulorme is determined to regain his status as one of the best welterweights in the world,” said Lou DiBella. “A win against a game Figueroa will get him one step closer to that status. He’s on a mission and he wont be denied.”
