Undefeated contender Tommy Oosthuizen is set to move up to the light heavyweight division. Oosthuizen had been having difficulty making the 168 lbs limit of super middleweight, and is set to campaign at the new division for his next fight.

Oosthuizen had been building up some momentum and a name for himself, but then was lucky to escape his fight with Brandon Gonzales with a split draw verdict. Most believe that Gonzales had clearly defeated him.

That was last June, and Oosthuizen has fought only once more since then. That was a bout back in his home country of South Africa, and he escaped with just a majority decision win against Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna. So clearly, Oosthuizen was in need of a change, despite the fact that he retains an unbeaten ledger.

We’ll see if the move to 175 lbs reinvigorates him moving ahead, and if he’s able to secure any other high profile bouts on U.S. television in the near future.
