London Olympic 2012 Captain Tom Stalker will face fellow unbeaten fighter Chris Jenkins in a British Light Welterweight Title eliminator on Queensberry Promotions’ ‘Magnificent Seven Fight Again’ bill at the Liverpool Echo Arena on October 25th.
Frank Warren won the purse bids this month for the contest and Liverpool favourite Stalker will be looking to put himself in line for a dream shot at the Lonsdale belt in early 2015. Stalker said: “It’s always been a dream of mine to fight for the British title and I know by beating Jenkins it’s going to put me in line to realise that dream.”
“Jenkins is a really good fighter so this has all the ingredients to be a fantastic fight for the fans, with two unbeaten fighters putting it all on the line! But I know I’ve got all the tools to win the fight and I’m confident of doing the business!”
Welshman Jenkins has been pursuing the fight with former amateur star Stalker for some time and Jenkins’ manager Paul Boyce is confident of a win for his man:
“ Chris has been chasing the Stalker fight for a long time, so it’s great the board have ordered it. We’ve been chasing and asking for the fight since Stalker turned pro and we’re very confident of a win.”
The Stalker v Jenkins fight is just one of a packed bill at the Echo Arena. England’s fastest ever World Champion Paul Butler is in action for the first time since capturing the IBF Bantamweight Championship in Newcastle earlier this year, now back campaigning in his natural Super Flyweight division.
Liam Smith faces off against mandatory challenger Navid Mansouri for the British Light Middleweight Championship, whilst Liverpool favourite Derry Mathews will contest the vacant WBA Intercontinental Lightweight Championship.
Chris Eubank Jr looks to continue his destructive form and new British Lightweight champion Terry Flanagan makes the first defence of his title.
Whilst Kevin Satchell challenges Valery Yanchy for the European Flyweight title on home soil; and on the undercard, Matty Fagan, Micheal Gomez jr and Jack Catterall are also all in action.
Tickets priced at £40, £50, £75, £100 and £150 are available from the Liverpool Echo Arena Box Office on 0844 8000 400 or www.echoarena.com
