Two women’s title fights are headed to Costa Rica on March 31st. Sampson Boxing president Sampson Lewkowicz announced from Las Vegas, Nevada the privilege of hosting the rematch boxing event scheduled for Thursday, March, 31 2011 at the inauguration week of the Costa Rica National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica. In the main event, undefeated WBO Jr. Middleweight Champion from Costa Rica, Hanna Gabriel vs. Mexican pugilist Melisenda Perez.
The rematch was borne as a promise between the two pugilists after an exciting first bout. Sampson stated: “I’m proud to be part of the festivities in Costa Rica that would not have been made possible without the support & loyalty of Manager/Cousin Kathy Sanchez Cunningham as well as Ezequiel Obando, Trainer of Hanna Gabriel.”
The co-featured event will be for the IBF female, Super bantamweight title between Melinda “La Maravilla” Cooper, from the United States, via Las Vegas, Nevada vs. Ada “Ace” Velez, from Puerto Rico, via Hollywood, Florida, U.S.A.
In the Featherweight division, Dahiana Santana from the Dominican Republic vs. Stacey “Stay-Lo” Reile from Miami, Florida. Plus four exciting scheduled bouts with local boxing talents.
Sampson Boxing will have the privilege of hosting these fights at the Costa Rica National Stadium. The stadium is a gift from the Chinese government to the people of Costa Rica. The President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla will be in attendance as well as other government dignitaries. In addition, the festival will host a soccer match featuring Argentina vs. the Costa Rica national team. All participants of the Inauguration week, will be staying at the luxurious Days Hotel, San Jose, Costa Rica.
