In early spring, DiBella Entertainment announced the signing of highly touted middleweight prospect Ivan Golub, and now DBE has just added fellow Ukrainian amateur standout Sergiy Derevyanchenko to its ever-growing stable. Like Golub, Derevyanchenko will be co-promoted by Fight Promotions, Inc. and the two Ukrainian middleweights will make their much-anticipated DBE debuts on an upcoming Broadway Boxing card this summer.
“Turning pro was a logical step for me at this point in my career. It has always been my dream to be a world champion and fight the best fighters in the world. I am ready to do whatever it takes, taking one step at a time, putting in hard work to achieve my ultimate goal. I am delighted to have signed a promotional agreement with Fight Promotions and DiBella Entertainment,” said Derevyanchenko.
“Sergiy is one of the most decorated amateurs in the world and 100-percent one of the best middleweight prospects in all of boxing. We feel that in one year’s time, he will be ready to compete at the highest levels in boxing,” said promoter Lou DiBella.
Derevyanchenko had an astounding amateur career, which saw him compile an astonishing 390-20 record, as well as represent his native Ukraine at the 2008 Olympics and win a bronze medal at the 2007 Amateur World Championships. Derevyanchenko has also been fighting in the World Series of Boxing, where he posted a 23-1 overall record and was the 2012 WSB Team Champion and 2011 and 2012 WSB Individual Champion.
Derevyanchenko’s rise up the world rankings is expected to be meteoric and anything less than a world championship would be a disappointment for the 28-year-old middleweight.
“With hard work and a great team behind me, I will become a world champion in the middleweight division. There is no doubt in my mind.”
