Unbeaten lightweight Carlos Molina in action Saturday in TX

Texas fight fans will get a double dose of exciting fight action this Saturday, June 16 when Golden Boy Promotions presents the next edition of TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” featuring two of boxing’s top prospects from the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas.

In the 10-round main event, unbeaten Norwalk, California native Carlos Molina and the Dominican Republic’s Marcos Jimenez battle for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title.

Rapidly sailing up the lightweight ladder, Norwalk’s Carlos Molina (16-0-1, 7 KO’s) has been waiting for the moment when he can challenge for his first professional title and that moment comes this Saturday in Texas. Fresh off of back-to-back victories over Manuel Leyva and Angino Perez, the 26-year-old prospect’s time is now and he’s ready to make the move from prospect to contender.

Standing in Molina’s way this weekend will be Santo Domingo’s Marcos “El Tigre” Jimenez (18-3, 12 KO’s), the winner of eight of his last 10 fights, with his only losses coming against highly-regarded Daniel Jimenez and Diego Magdaleno. Intent on handing Molina his first professional loss, Jimenez has the style and power to test anyone he faces in the 135-pound weight class.

Molina vs. Jimenez, a 10 round WBO Intercontinental Lightweight Title fight, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and is sponsored by Cerveza Tecate.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. CT on fight night, the first bell rings at 7:00 p.m. CT and the TeleFutura “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” broadcast begins at 11:00 p.m. ET / PT (10:00 p.m. CT).

Tickets, priced at $25, $40, $60 and $80, plus fees, are available for purchase from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the McAllen Convention Center box office, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
