Top Nicaraguan prospect Roberto Arriaza (11-0, 10 KOs) makes his U.S. debut one week from Friday against Cameron Kreal (8-9-2, 1 KO) of Las Vegas on the undercard of Thompson Boxing Promotions “New Blood” Anniversary Event.
The action takes place Friday, May 20, from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.
Arriaza, a welterweight boasting substantial punching power in either mitt, has been in the U.S. since April, training feverishly for the 8-round fight against Kreal. He is largely an unknown commodity in the States. He’s counting on an impressive showing to endear himself to the influential Southern California audience
“I’m coming in well prepared for this fight,” said the 26-year-old. “It’s important to make a statement in my first U.S. event. I want to show the fans that my talent is real and to expect great things from me down the road.”
“I don’t plan on wasting any rounds. I have an aggressive boxing style. I’m confident that I’m going to put on an exciting performance.”
Arriaza signed with Thompson Boxing Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions in early January, just prior to him capturing the vacant WBA Fedecentro welterweight title against Aristides Quintero.
