Thursday at The Space at Westbury in Westbury, New York, light welterweight Kenneth Sims Jr. (4-0, 2 KOs) and super-bantamweight Eduardo Martinez (4-0, 1 KO), remained undefeated, both winning by unanimous decision in separate 6-round bouts.
Sims Jr. used superior boxing skills and cruised to a convincing victory against Francisco Lopez (2-2). With the win, Sims Jr. believes his career is moving in the right direction.
“I wanted to come out here tonight and establish my jab and take my time while working my game plan,” said Kenneth Sims Jr. “I got into a rhythm early everything seemed to come easy. All my punches were landing and I wasn’t getting hit. I know I’m getting better each time I step in the ring. I feel great with how my career is developing. I want to thank Gary Shaw for keeping me busy. I’m ready to get back in the ring when Gary calls my name.”
Martinez used his pressure style to outwork his opponent, Jose Del Valle (4-9-3). Although Del Valle had the advantage in height, Martinez was able to get inside and work the body. Martinez feels excited about his future.
“I’m always trying to get better with every fight,” Martinez said. “Tonight I learned how to fight a taller opponent so the experience was very valuable. I know Gary Shaw has big plans for me so I’m excited to get back in the gym and keep learning my craft. I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring.”
“Sims Jr. and Martinez are coming along great and I’m thrilled to have them both in my stable.” said Gary Shaw. “This was the first time they went six rounds and I’m happy with the results. Antonio Leonard and I are looking to get them both be back in the ring in the near future.”
