It doesn’t get hotter than a July night in Tucson, Arizona, and that will apply to the action in the ring at the Casino Del Sol on Friday, July 22, as TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” broadcasts a sizzling lineup of bouts featuring unbeaten junior featherweights Christopher Martin and Mark Salser in separate bouts.
In the main event, scheduled for 10 rounds in the junior featherweight division, promising contender Martin battles Mexico’s Jose Silveira and in the co-feature, Ohio’s Salser faces Mexico’s Rodolfo Armenta in a six round bout.
Martin vs. Silveira headlines a night of world-class professional boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Don Chargin Productions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Doors open at 5:30pm and first fight begins at 7:00pm. TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” will be broadcast at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).

25-year old Christopher Martin (22-0-2, 6 KO’s) has long been one of boxing’s best kept secrets, but with the recent performances the San Diego native has been putting on, he is finally getting his just due. A five-year professional, Martin has won 12 in a row, and in the last year he’s really stepped up his game, defeating then-unbeaten Chris Avalos, 29-2 Jose Luis Araiza, and 16-2 Charles Huerta. On July 22, he’ll attempt to keep his hot streak going.
The current IBA Bantamweight Champion Jose Silveira (12-3, 4 KO’s) of Merida, Mexico has been on a tear of his own lately, winning six of his last seven bouts since 2008. Along the way, he defeated Andrew Singh Kooner for the NABA title in May of 2010 and decisioned Juan Jose Beltran in February for the IBA crown. Now, he’ll test the waters at 122 pounds against Martin.
Unbeaten as a professional, Mansfield, Ohio’s Mark Salser (12-0, 9 KO’s) has been moving steadily since his debut in 2007 and he is ready for his biggest test to date on July 22 in Tucson. Standing across the ring from him in his TeleFutura debut will be hard-hitting Nogales prospect Rodolpho “Bam Bam” Armenta (10-4-1, 8 KO’s), who has won three of his last four bouts, with each victory coming by knockout.
