A third regional title bout has been added to the fight card in Hamburg, Germany on April 27. The fans at the Sporthalle Hamburg are already looking forward to the title fights between current European Light Heavyweight Champion Juergen Braehmer and Tony Averlant as well as Jack Culcay putting his WBA Intercontinental Light Middleweight Title on the line when he meets Guido Nicolas Pitto in the ring.

Now it has been announced that Dustin Dirks (27-0, 20 KOs) will also be risking his first ever professional championship belt, the WBA Light Heavyweight Intercontinental Title. In his first defense the German will face off with Ukraine’s Oleksandr Cherviak (10-2-1, 3 KOs).

Dirks knows that the opponent for his maiden defense could have been easier.

“Cherviak has never been stopped in his professional career. I watched his fight against my stable mate Eduard Gutknecht which he only lost via unanimous decision. You can see that he has a very uncomfortable style of boxing. He also likes to jump at his foes out of nowhere. Hence I will have to be on my toes for the whole duration of the fight and cannot allow myself to switch of just for a split second.”

However, although the prodigy of Coach Otto Ramin is wary of Cherviak’s threat, he is convinced that the belt will still be his after April 27.

“I have two weeks left of intense sparring sessions. I will take full advantage of the time I have. As long as I am fully prepared when I step into the ring come fight night I know that I will beat him. Maybe I can even improve my KO ratio.”
