Tyron Zeuge is ready for his first homecoming as a champion. On March 29, the Berlin-native is going to support the WBO Cruiserweight World Championship between Marco Huck and Mirko Larghetti at the Velodrom in Berlin, Germany. The 21-year-old’s premiere title defense of his WBO Youth Belt will come against same-aged and unbeaten Gheorghe Sabau of Romania.
Zeuge secured his first title in the pro ranks on January 25 in Stuttgart, Germany – just minutes before Huck beat Firat Arslan in their rematch.
“That was an awesome feeling to fight in front of about 10,000 people. However, I was just nervous walking to the ring,” says the prodigy of Karsten Roewer. Afterwards, he kept his cool. “I blanked out the fans in attendance as the first bell rang to be absolutely focused and it worked.”
The challenge now is to verify this result on March 29. Zeuge already discussed the style and strengths of Sabau with his coach Roewer. “My next opponent is southpaw and has a temporizing style being a counter-puncher. In the upcoming weeks, my trainer will give me the exact strategy to be victorious against Sabau.”
Promoter Kalle Sauerland has a high opinion of Zeuge: “Tyron is one of the biggest talents at super middleweight. I am proud to present his first title defense in his hometown.”
However, defending the WBO Youth Title is just a stepping-stone according to the ambitious Zeuge: “I want to become a world champion.”
