Oleksandr Usyk admits he would be open to a third bout with Anthony Joshua following his rematch with Tyson Fury.
Usyk defends his WBA ‘super’, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles against Fury on December 21 in Saudi Arabia, whilst Joshua faces Daniel Dubois for the IBF crown on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
The Ukrainian twice overcame ‘AJ’ by decision, relieving him of his heavyweight titles first time around.
However, the 37-year-old says he would be enticed by the prospect of a trilogy with the former two-time heavyweight champion.
“I don’t particularly want any rematches,” Usyk told Mail Sport Boxing.
“But, when we beat Tyson Fury for the second time and when Anthony Joshua beats Daniel Dubois, of course they will want to do a third fight.
“From my point of view I have no right to deny Anthony a third fight, because he gave me two incredible fights.
“Anthony helped me become even more famous in the world. Anthony did it.
“And if it happens with God’s help, then I am ready for a third fight with Anthony.”
Dubois, who was stopped by Usyk last August, was elevated to full IBF champion in June following Usyk’s decision to vacate his title after his split decision victory over Fury in May.
‘AJ’ is unbeaten in four fights since successive losses to the Ukrainian, the last a brutal second round knockout over former UFC heavyweight titlist, Francis Ngannou in March in Saudi Arabia and Usyk believes the 34-year-old’s improved mentality has been key to his recent success.
“He has improved a lot psychologically,” he added.
“Of course [he beats Dubois].
“I’m bad at predictions, but it’s [an] Olympic champion and a UK champion.
“Anthony is a different level.”
Usyk became only the second man in history behind Evander Holyfield to become undisputed champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight and the first in the four-belt era.
