The March 21 edition of ESPN Friday Night Fights will feature former Jr. Middleweight world title challenger Vanes “The Nightmare” Martirosyan (33-1-1, 21 KOs) and Mario Lozano (27-4, 20 KOs) in the 10-round Jr. Middleweight main event.
Friday’s show, from the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, Calif., will air live at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and is promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions.
Main Event:
California’s Martirosyan, a 2004 U.S. Olympian, is looking to rebound from a 12-round split decision loss in a world title challenge to current WBO Jr. Middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade. Mexico’s Lozano is looking to get back to his winning ways following a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Charles Hatley.
“I know Lozano is a good puncher and he’s a really good fighter,” Martirosyan said. “In this fight, you’re going to see the best Vanes you’ve ever seen.”
Co-Feature:
Friday’s 10-round co-feature will pit Lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (32-1, 21 KOs), brother of current IBF Junior Welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson, against Marcos “El Tigre” Jiménez (20-4, 13 KOs). Washington D.C.’s Peterson is coming off a second-round TKO win over Dominic Salcido, while Puerto Rico’s Jiménez scored an eight-round unanimous decision over Jose Hernandez in his last outing.
