Confirmed for December 9th on ESPN, we will get a 130-pound showdown between two of the most decorated Amateur boxers in history. Lomachenko, who’s recognized as a top 5 Pound for Pound fighter will be facing his best challenge to date with Rigondeaux, who will be moving up in weight. There will be much on the line on December 9 when history is made as Lomachenko and Rigondeaux will become the first-ever fighters who have both won two Olympic gold medals to fight one another at pro level. Lomachenko’s WBO super-featherweight title will be on the line
Since defeating Donaire in 2013 in masterful fashion, Cuban Boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux has been recognized as the top technical boxer in the world, and will be looking to make his claim to be on the top pound for pound lists amongst fans. With an amateur career record of 475 fights with 12 losses, and since turning pro his record is 17 Wins by 11 Kos, he will be looking to put on a boxing clinic with his sharp defensive skills, accurate counter punches, and hand speed.
While coming off his dominant KO win in August, Lomachenko could give his doubters a big name win on his resume which he currently lacks. With a professional record of 9 -1 with 7 KOs, to go with his legendary amateur record of 396 -1, he will be looking to use his hand speed, foot speed and his accuracy to put on a clinic as well.
This matchup on paper will be one of the best technical fights in the history, with both boxers looking for their biggest win. Both boxers are highly skilled and both boxers are motivated to prove and gain the universal recognition they crave. The countdown to December 9th has begun!
