During tonight’s Shobox card, Floyd Mayweather was interviewed by Steve Farhood, and the matter quickly turned to a fight against Conor McGregor. We haven’t been covering the alleged Mayweather vs. McGregor fight, because it’s absurd.
Who in the world cares, and what does it prove? Adrian Peterson would break any tackle that LeBron James threw at him. And LeBron would dunk over Peterson all day. Yes, boxing and mixed martial arts are two entirely different sports.
To be perfectly clear – Mayweather embarrasses McGregor in the squared circle. McGregor embarrasses Mayweather in the cage. It’s that easy. Mayweather has a slightly better chance playing by the other man’s rules, but it’s a fraction nevertheless.
However, not it seems like we’re inching closer to this travesty being a reality. Here’s what Mayweather had to say in the interview:
“It’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know as of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely.
Farhood asks whether this will be boxing or MMA…
We’re the A-side of course, it has to be a boxing match. Because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand up guy.
So, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me. We really don’t know as of now, but there’s been a lot of talk. Hopefully we can make the fight happen.
An incredulous Farhood basically tells Floyd, you can’t believe any of us would take this seriously…
He’s no pushover. One thing about Conor McGregor, he’s no pushover. He fell short in his last bout, but a true champion can always bounce back so that’s a guy that I can’t overlook. No numbers… we haven’t picked a venue, we haven’t talked about money yet.
I’m going to get a hundred million. Every time I go out, that’s my number. Every time I go out in that squared circle, it’s $100 million or better.
Sigh.
