In this exclusive video interview with Freddie Roach, the trainer discusses all of his star pupils, and their most recent or upcoming fights. Roach likely just sealed up his latest Trainer of the Year honors with Miguel Cotto’s epic beat down of Sergio Martinez, and he discusses how Cotto was able to hit and hurt Martinez, and what the plan was there.
Roach was surprised about the three knockdowns early, but not the end result. Roach also talks about options for Miguel Cotto’s next fight, including Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez.
As for Manny Pacquiao’s next fight, Roach discusses a few options there, including the 5th fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, which he’d like at this point. There has also been talk of Pacquiao facing a former sparring partner, Ruslan Provodnikov, next.
Of course, Provodnikov is currently training with Roach, and fights this weekend in Brooklyn against Chris Algieri. Roach talks about Provodnikov vs. Algieri and what Ruslan will need to do to win that fight.
