Ruslan Provodnikov recently held a media workout as he winds down preparations for his fight this weekend against Timothy Bradley. During the event, trainer Freddie Roach took some time not only to discuss Provodnikov and Bradley, but also his most well known charge, Manny Pacquiao. Roach discusses Pacquiao’s next fight, his future in the ring, coming back from the knockout defeat, and more. Take a look at the video interviews with Roach below.
In this video interview, Freddie Roach basically says that Pacquiao did indeed want to come back with a fight in April, but he said it was too soon, following up with the concussion and the brutal KO loss. Roach says that Pacquiao won’t have a problem coming back from the knockout, though. He accepts the defeat and what happened and it’s something they won’t dwell on, but instead simply move past and use as a tool for growth and improvement.
So it looks like Pacquiao will be fighting just once this year, likely in September. Then it could be about two more fights in 2014, and then it’s a day, and a career, for Manny Pacquiao.
Roach also says that after that he hopes Pacquiao goes on to become president of the Philippines. Clearly he wants his fighter to leave the ring with his wits and health intact so he can take on that next challenge in life.
As the event was about Provodnikov vs. Bradley, it’s only fair that we show what Roach had to say there. Roach believes that Provodnikov has the power to KO Bradley, and that his size, strength and aggressiveness will enable him to win the fight. We’ll see about that.
Definitely some interesting thoughts from Roach on Pacquiao, as always. Enjoy the videos and keep on checking back with us all day, every day, for more boxing news and rumors.
