On Saturday night’s HBO Pay-Per-View, highlights were shown from undefeated Mike Lee’s undercard bout, in which he won a clear unanimous decision over his opponent. With the win, Lee, a Notre Dame graduate and already a high profile fighter, improved to 11-0 with 6 knockouts, and is a rising prospect in the light heavyweight division. Top Rank has been grooming this kid to be a star from the get go, and the exposure he has received is off the charts. He’s making very good money for a fighter at this stage of his career, he has an endorsement with Subway, and has seen lots of TV action on the promoter’s big cards.
This interview was conducted before Lee’s fight this past Saturday, and he said he was going in there for the KO win. He didn’t get the stoppage, but he wasn’t tested at all either. I think it’s time to start stepping up the competition for Lee, and taking him from prospect into a contender. We’ll be seeing much more of Lee in the near future, that’s for sure.
