Miguel Cotto and Daniel Geale clash this Saturday night on HBO Boxing at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Right here, you can find separate video interviews with both Cotto and Geale from fight week, conducted by HBO’s Kieran Mulvaney.
Cotto talks about being back in New York, and fighting in front of his fans there and before the Puerto Rican Day parade. He also talks about the year layoff since defeating Sergio Martinez, the accomplishment of winning the middleweight title, choosing Geale as the opponent, and comments from Geale that perhaps he’s overlooking him.
Geale talks about getting the call to face Cotto for his championship, and bouncing back from losses to Darren Barker and Gennady Golovkin. He definitely does think Cotto is looking past him, so he thinks he’s going to surprise him. He’s looking to use his bigger size, strength and reach to his advantage, but of course, he has to make that 157 lbs catchweight that everybody is talking about this week. He says he’ll definitely be able to make the weight though.
Check back tomorrow for the Cotto vs. Geale weigh-in, and Saturday night for coverage of the event itself.
