Things didn’t go so well for Manny Pacquiao in 2012. He played a part in two of our 2012 Boxing Awards, and neither one of which was one you’d want to receive, at least not on his end of the deal.
Watch this Manny Pacquiao video retrospective from his 2012.
First, he was the victim of the Robbery of the Year, when he lost a highly controversial decision to Timothy Bradley in June. Next, he was the victim of the Knockout of the Year, when he took on his arch-rival Juan Manuel Marquez for a 4th time in December. After trading knockdowns, Marquez would land a perfect counter right hand that put Pacquiao down and out for good, falling unconscious to the canvas and remaining there for minutes.
All of Pacquiao’s invincibility, his status as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, and everything else along with it, were gone in a flash. But Pacquiao isn’t retiring, he’s coming back for more in 2013.
Will he take on Marquez for a 5th time, as is being speculated? Will he find a new opponent? Will he ever meet Floyd Mayweather? We’ll have to wait and see.
