Unbeaten lightweight, Rhiannon Dixon is hopeful of one day sparring Katie Taylor, after already sharing the ring with elite company.
Dixon (3-0) fights for the fourth time as a professional and for first under the Matchroom Boxing banner when she features on the undercard of the rematch between Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora at the AO Arena in Manchester on December 18, live on DAZN.
The 26-year-old, who is trained by former lightweight world champion, Anthony Crolla in Gallagher’s Gym has shared several rounds with gym mate, Natasha Jonas, as well as current world champions, Chantelle Cameron and Savannah Marshall and admits she would relish the opportunity to compete with undisputed lightweight champion, Taylor.
“We did a lot of sparring together at the beginning of the year,” Dixon recalled to proboxing-fans.com on her sparring with Jonas.
“But, we’re both southpaw and there’s not a lot of southpaws to fight, so I think we’re getting more orthodox sparring in now.

“But, I’ve done quite a bit with Natasha and it’s great to learn off, because there’s not a lot of southpaw women to learn from.
“I’ve got one of the best in the world in my gym, so she tells me, ‘you do this and you just need to do X, Y and Z more,’ so I learn a lot from her.

“I’ve sparred Chantelle [Cameron], Savannah [Marshall], Natasha. It’s great being in the ring with them, but it hurts, it’s not a fun time!
“Katie Taylor would be a good one [to spar]. It’s good seeing where you’re at with people, it would be a great experience, I’m sure my head would hurt after it!”
The Warrington fighter took an unconventional route into the sport, going through the unlicensed scene and having eight white collar bouts before turning professional in September 2019.
Dixon, who works as a pharmacist when she is not in training camp has not yet had an opponent confirmed for December 18, but says she will bring an aggressive style.
“I don’t look it, but actually I’m quite aggressive.
“I’m quite shy in normal, day-to-day life, but I have quite an aggressive, come forward style which I’m looking forward to showing everyone on December 18.”
