Badou Jack, a previously unbeaten fighter in the Mayweather Promotions stable, had a bad outing on Friday night’s Shobox. Real bad. He went from on the cusp of a title shot, to knocked out in less than one minute.

It was certainly a shock, and a huge upset, as Badou Jack “The Ripper” was a very highly touted fighter.
As for how it happened, there’s really not much of an explanation. Jack seemed to be cold in the ring, he hadn’t worked up a sweat yet, but it was just one shot that caught him just right. He never recovered from there.
It’s going to take some substantial rebuilding up the ladder after this, and as always, this is when we get a chance to see what a fighter is really made from.
Another one of the Mayweather Promotions purported rising stars also almost had a disastrous night on Shobox this week. Unbeaten Chris Pearson was knocked down and hurt in his fight, but went on to win a Split Decision. It was a victory that Pearson appeared to have deserved, although the scorecards in his favor – one giving him the win by 5 points – were definitely out of whack.
