Johnny Tapia was a captivating fighter in the ring, and a captivating figure outside of the ring as well. His trials and tribulations have been well documented of course, and Mi Vida Loca didn’t shy away from that side of his life.
Now, HBO sports is showcasing Tapia, a documentary movie about Johnny Tapia and that Vida Loca of his. Somehow, it’s already been two years since Tapia passed away.
Right here you can watch a quick video preview of Tapia. The preview showcases Tapia being larger than life in and out of the ring. Bloody heroics within the squared circle, and drugs and violence and arrests outside. We hear Tapia talk of how boxing saved his life, and we hear about the murder of his mother.
Tapia premieres on HBO on Tuesday, December 16th, at 11pm. This is one that any fight fan should definitely want to see.
