Alfredo Angulo lost to the mostly unknown James De La Rosa in the opening bout of the Mayhem: Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana pay-per-view. Angulo seemed a step behind and sluggish for most of the evening, and entered the ring weighing as much as a smaller cruiserweight.
In Round 2, De La Rosa asserted his presence and made it known that he was truly there to win. He knocked Angulo down along the ropes with several flush left hands. Right here, you can watch the video of Angulo being sent down to the canvas by De La Rosa.
Angulo made a final charge late in the fight, coming on strong in rounds 9 and 10. He had De La Rosa hurt and looked to close the show, but was unable to get it done. It was too little too late, and he lost widely on the scorecards. Still, the late rally may have been enough for him to not lose too much credibility. Still, three straight losses for El Perro.
