Hey Harold is back, and this time the long-time HBO Boxing unofficial scorer shares his thoughts on this weekend’s HBO Boxing doubleheader from Madison Square Garden, Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Geale, and Bryant Jennings vs. Mike Perez. Right here, you can watch what Harold Lederman has to say about both fights and all of the fighters involved.
Lederman is very excited about GGG, and can’t wait to see him in the big arena at MSG. He calls him a throwback, similar to Jake LaMotta in that he keeps on coming forward, throwing punches, and walking through whatever you’re throwing at him.
But he’s by no means counting out Geale. He credits Geale’s boxing and ring generalship, and a number of his other attributes, and he believes Geale is coming into this fight ready.
As for Jennings vs. Perez, Lederman is intrigued by Perez’s background and story. Perez wasn’t the same fighter after the unfortunate incident with his bout against Abdusalamov, but says he’s back now. With Jennings, Lederman believes him to be one of the top American heavyweights right now. He thinks if he wins this fight he’s a legitimate top 5 heavyweight and he’s ready for bigger things and opportunities in the division.
Stay tuned for more news and updates on Golovkin vs. Geale over the coming days.
