With the Super Six World Boxing Classic Cup sitting just a few feet away, both Andre “SOG” Ward and “King” Arthur Abraham made weight on Friday at a packed open-to-the-public weigh-in held at the LAX Crowne Plaza. Tonight, Saturday, May 14, at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and Live on Showtime (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), the World Boxing Association super middleweight world champion and the Super Six top-seeded Ward (23-0, 13 KOs), of Oakland, Calif., will take on the power-punching Abraham (32-2, 26 KOs) of Berlin, Germany, in a 12-round semifinal bout with the winner earning a spot in the Super Six tournament finals. On Friday, Ward weighed in at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds while Abraham tipped the scales at 167 pounds.
In a non-televised undercard bout, Chris Arreola will take on fellow heavyweight Nagy Aguilera. On Friday, Arreola weighed in at 234 pounds and Aguilera 238 pounds.The undercard also features US Olympians Shawn Estrada and Javier Molina, as well as heavyweight contender Manny Quezada.
Opening up the telecast on Saturday night on SHOWTIME will be a replay of last Saturday night’s Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley mega-fight from Las Vegas.
