Analysis
All three of the boxing betting websites above list Andre Ward as a strong favorite heading into the showdown to decide the Super Six Tournament championship. That’s no surprise – Ward has been the presumed favorite since he cruised past Mikkel Kessler, and nothing has slowed him down since.
However, many people have to be licking their chops at the prospect of getting such nice underdog odds on a guy like Carl Froch. Nobody has had a tougher or better slate of recent competition over the last two or three years than Froch has, and he has, more often than not, come out ahead.
He should be able to take Ward’s punches without too much of a problem, and he brings more power to the table and has the ability to potentially hurt Ward. Like Ward, Froch can box, brawl or get rough on the inside, so this fight can play out in any number of ways, and the fight could be determined by who makes a better mid-fight adjustment or change, or who can outlast the other and impose their own will on the bout and how it plays out.
With Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch odds have Ward as a favorite for a reason. He’s unbeaten, he’s versatile, and he’s a great technician, and Froch has shown that he can be susceptible to being outmaneuvered by speedy guys with strong technical skills and fundamentals. But Ward isn’t super fast, and he’s never faced a fighter at his peak who can bring the pressure, heat and power like Froch can.
If you’re in it for the sport of things, you have to like taking Froch as an underdog with the above odds which are available. But whomever you like, there are some good boxing betting opportunities with the Ward vs. Froch match.
