WBA Champ Koki Kameda to Face Interim Titleholder After Next Fights

Ruiz to Face Kameda in  WBA Championship Showdown

At the conclusion of a private meeting held at the classic and antique Geneve Hotel in Mexico City, Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing and promoter Shiro Kameda of Kameda Promotions, are proud to announce that power-punching WBA Interim Bantamweight Champion Hugo “Cuatito” Ruiz (29-1, 26 KOs) will face all-action WBA Bantamweight World Champion Koki Kameda in an exciting title fight showdown later this year.

The agreement, which already has the full blessing of the WBA, stipulates that each fighter will first make an interim title defense. Ruiz’s fight is scheduled for March 17. Kameda will fight in April 2012.

Los Mochis, Mexico’s Ruiz won his interim belt in January 2011 with a technical decision over Alvaro Perez. He has made two successful defenses over Francisco Arce.

Tokyo, Japan’s Kameda became WBA Champ in December 2010 with a 12-round unanimous decision over Alexander Munoz and has made three successful defenses.

“I am lucky to have such a great partner in Mexico as Hector Garcia of HG Boxing and it was a pleasure to negotiate with Shiro Kameda, who, in agreeing to the interim defense first, understood and honored my prior commitment I had with HG Boxing and Azteca-TV,” said Lewkowicz, President of Sampson Boxing LLC. “I am looking forward to a terrific fight between two aggressive warriors.”
