Most of this weekend’s boxing action was a bit off the radar for U.S. fight fans, with Carlos Molina taking on Cornelius Bundrage in Mexico, picked up at the last minute for coverage by ESPN3, and a stacked card in the U.K., with Lee Selby meeting Joel Brunker in an elimination bout, and Anthony Joshua looking to put on his latest sensational show. Here’s a round-up of the results from all of those fights.
Molina vs. Bundrage Results
Cornelius “K9” Bundrage scored a big upset and snagged a title strap at 154 lbs once again by defeating Carlos Molina via Unanimous Decision. Bundrage scored two knockdowns in the fight, including one in the very first round of action.
Official scores for Bundrage were 117-106, 116-109 and 115-110, while the inactivity and bad luck for Molina have seemingly taken him down a peg, from one of the best and most avoided fighters in the division to a fringe contender. He’ll need to stay busy and string some wins together to try to get back into the mix.
Selby vs. Brunker Results
Lee Selby dominated and stopped Joel Brunker in a featherweight elimination fight, earning the right to square off against Evgeny Gradovich for his title strap. Selby essentially ended the fight with a body shot in the 9th round, scoring a TKO victory.
On the same card, Anthony Joshua remained undefeated with an easy win over Denis Bakhtov. Joshua is now 9-0, with 9 KOs, and already has an upcoming date against Michael Sprott on the calendar. After that, there’s been talk of a showdown with former British heavyweight phenom, David Price.
