Donaire vs. Nishioka Weigh-in and Rios vs. Alvarado Weigh-In
The official weigh-ins were held this afternoon for Saturday’s HBO doubleheader featuring Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado and Nonito Donaire vs. Toshiaki Nishioka. Right here, you’ll find the official weights for all of the fighters, some notes from the weigh-in event, and a collection of weigh-in photos as well. Take a look.
Weigh-in Pictures
- Nonito Donaire: 121.6 lbs
- Toshiaki Nishioka: 121.8 lbs
There was nothing but respect between Donaire and Nishioka. No fake wars of words or pushing and shoving here, just two guys planning on giving it their best. Nishioka left the stage draped in a Japanese flag, and Donaire put his hand on his shoulder to show that respect between two top professionals, in what will be a very high quality championship match.
- Brandon Rios: 140 lbs
- Mike Alvarado: 139.8 lbs
Rios didn’t looked as drained as he has in the past, when he was trying to make the lightweight division limit. But he didn’t necessarily look great either.
Another surprise was that these two guys also displayed nothing but respect with one another. Usually Rios hates everybody, or at least tries to show that. Here, it seems like both of the fighters are simply ready for a war tomorrow night, and they’re expecting to go out there and exchange some leather. Should be a great fight!
So thanks for checking out the Rios vs. Alvarado and Donaire vs. Nishioka weigh-in results, we’ll keep you up to speed all weekend long with coverage of the fights, the aftermath and everything else.
