Shakur Stevenson claimed the interim WBO super featherweight title after a dominant display against Jeremiah Nakathila in Las Vegas.

Stevenson took to social media in the aftermath to project his criticism of his own performance saying, “I apologize to all my fans I didn’t feel good tonight but I did what I had to do to win..

“Thank you for all da support I promise better for further fights to come”

Nakathila came into the bout labeled “dangerous” by promoter, Bob Arum and the Namibian had won ten bouts on the bounce since his first loss.

However, Stevenson took full control of the 12 rounds boxing his way to victory.

Some felt he lacked that killer instinct but 12 valuable rounds were banked by the 23-year-old.

Questions were asked if he can compete at the highest level at 130lbs, we explore the options on the table for Shakur.

Jamel Herring

‘Semper Fi’ holds the full WBO world championship and is the man everybody wants to face.

Stevenson has been very vocal in expressing his desire to face Herring since he defeated Carl Frampton in Dubai successfully defending the title he won in 2019.

Herring is actively pursuing a unification bout as he edges ever closer to the end of his career.

The WBC champion has found himself as the main man at super featherweight after his impressive display knocking out Miguel Berchelt.

A unification bout with Herring has been mooted however, Shakur has also been strongly linked with taking on the WBC champion.

Stevenson has the potential and confidence in himself to take on the elite. To be the best you’ve got to beat the best.

Archie Sharp

Archie Sharp has been highly rated with the WBO for some time now and the Brit has been patiently waiting for his shot at one of the top dogs.

‘Sharpshooter’ has been calling out Shakur ever since the American moved up to 130lbs and hopes a victory July 10th edges him closer to the bout he has been asking for.

Abraham Nova

‘Super’ Nova is one of the easiest fights to make for Stevenson as the pair both fight under the Top Rank banner.

Nova is highly rated with the WBO and could fit the mould of a perfect opponent for Shakur, an unbeaten prospect with a high KO ratio.

However, unless ordered by the WBO, Nova could be viewed as high risk, low reward.
