Old scores were settled at the bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, as Ben Whittaker defended his IBF International light heavyweight title with a second round stoppage of Liam Cameron in their rematch.

2024 Olympic Silver medallist Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 KOs) was expected to deal with the threat of Cameron (23-7-1, 10 KOs) in their original meeting in Riyadh last October, but the Sheffield underdog came on strong after a slow start, turning the screw and troubling Whittaker until both went over the top rope in round six.

With Whittaker unable to continue, the bout went to the cards, and the pair couldn’t be split in a draw.

It was a largely cagey opening round, with Cameron making ‘The Surgeon’ move and work hard, and the second saw Whittaker’s jab put to good use, bloodying the 34-year-old nose.

The end was swift in coming, with Whittaker landing with a superb, sweeping right hand that buckled Cameron’s legs.

With the visitor on the retreat and under heavy fire until referee Howard Foster decided to intervene.

Eggington takes TD over Cutler

Sam Eggington won the WBC International Silver super welterweight title, but it was in controversial fashion, as he took a technical decision win against Lee Cutler (15-2, 7 KOs).

The bout was expected to be a war, but it never truly caught fire, and with both men sporting damage to their eyes, the doctor was called in the ninth round to inspect Eggington (36-9, 20 KOs), and he decided that the damage was too much, and the fight was curtailed.

It went to the scorecards, with the ninth round scored although not completed, and ‘The Savage’ took victory by two scores of 87-85 and a third at 90-83.

Clarke destroys Tetteh

Frazer Clarke returned to winning ways after losing in under a round to Fabio Wardley last October, and the popular heavyweight blew away Ebenezer Tetteh in under two minutes.

Tetteh (23-3, 20 KOs) was floored by a massive right hand, and although he beat the count and resumed, Clarke (9-1-1, 7 KOs) unleashed a two-fisted attack to force the referee’s intervention.

Denny sees off Ahorgah

Tyler Denny bounced back from a second round loss to Hamzah Sheeraz in his most recent fight by dropping and outscoring Elvis Ahorgah (13-4, 12 KOs) over ten rounds at middleweight.

Denny (20-3-3, 1 KO) had the visitor over in the seventh round, and eventually took a 97-92 win on the referee’s card.

Remaining Undercard

Troy Coleman retained his Midlands Area middleweight title in a thriller, as he stopped Bradley Goldsmith (12-1, 8 KOs)in the seventh round of their meeting.

Coleman (14-3-1, 6 KOs) unleashed several unanswered punches and the referee had no choice but to step in.

In an eight round contest at welterweight, Elliot Whale (12-0, 7 KOs) remained unbeaten, taking a 79-74 win on the referee’s scorecard against Lucas Ballingall (18-3, 5 KOs).

The only six rounder was at super middleweight, where Mark Jeffers (20-0, 7 KOs) ticked over by stopping Ricardo Lara (24-14-2, 12 KOs) in the second round of their bout.
