Dillian Whyte says he’s eager to settle his rivalry with Anthony Joshua, despite admitting he has more disdain for Deontay Wilder.
Much of Whyte’s 13-year professional career has been dominated by his feuds with both Joshua and Wilder, with only a battle with ‘AJ’ materialising.
‘The Body Snatcher’ chased a showdown with Wilder back when the American held the WBC heavyweight world title and he was the number one contender to the crown.
Despite there still being bad blood with ‘The Bronze Bomber’, Whyte says he would choose a rematch with Joshua, whom he was stopped by in seven rounds in 2015.
“I wanted to fight Wilder,” the 36-year-old told talkSPORT Boxing.
“I would have beaten Wilder. I would have knocked Wilder out.
“I would have smashed Wilder to bits and I would have been WBC world champion.
“But obviously Wilder’s a coward and he messed me about for so long.
“I would definitely fight AJ next.
“I really hate Deontay Wilder, but I got stopped by AJ and I haven’t been stopped by Wilder, so I definitely want to get that one back.”
The Brixton man saw a scheduled rematch with ‘AJ’ scuppered last August after testing positive for a banned substance in a VADA test, but was cleared in March to resume his career, after an investigation confirmed that it was caused by a contaminated supplement.
Whyte retired Christian Hammer in three rounds in a comeback fight in Ireland in March and says he remains keen on a third battle with Derek Chisora, who insists he has two fights remaining of his career after beating Joe Joyce in July.
“I would love to fight Derek Chisora,” he added.
“I would love to fight him again before he retires, just out of respect and mutual respect between me and him and the wars we’ve shared.
“I would love to just end it with another great fight.
“Me and him would have a good fight even if we were 60-years-old.
“It’s like me and AJ, if we were 100-years-old and we fight, it’s going to be a great fight as long as it lasts.”
