Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams takes a 12 round test against Patrice Volny at the top of a card full of talent this Saturday at Caribe Royale in Orlando.

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom promote Williams vs Volny and DAZN televise live worldwide.

The headliner is likely to have world title implications, and Williams (17-1, 12 KOs) fights for the first time this year.

2024 saw the 28-year-old open with a seventh round knockout of Armel Mbumba-Yassa, and that paved the way for a meeting with Hamzah Sheeraz on the big 5vs5 bill in Riyadh last June.

Williams came unstuck though, as Sheeraz largely dominated before scoring a stoppage win in the penultimate round.

The American returned to action in November, stopping Gian Garrido in an eight rounder in round five in Philadelphia.

Volny (19-1, 13 KOs) has fought at a much lower level than Williams and has never been past ten rounds.

The Canadian did score an impressive win last time out over former world title challenger, Steven Butler, halting his countryman in nine rounds last June.

Prediction: Williams will want to continue his rebuild, and he can do just that here, winning handily on the scorecards.

Berlanga returns after Canelo defeat

Edgar Berlanga sees action on the undercard, and he returns after a first professional defeat to face Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in a defence of his WBO NABO super middleweight title over ten rounds.

Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs) started his career as a knockout artist, winning his first 16 contests in the opening round, but has only won early once since as the level of competition has increased.

After knocking out Padraig McCrory in six rounds last February, ‘The Chosen One’ received a dream shot at Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez last September.

His bid to secure the unified world super middleweight championship ended in failure though, as he was dropped and widely outpointed by the Mexican great.

Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-0-1, 16 KOs) has won five on the spin since drawing with former world champion, Serhiy Dzinziruk in 2012, but took nearly ten years out from the sport before returning with two wins in 2024.

Prediction: Berlanga can take advantage of an ageing and inactive Gonzalez-Ortiz, and I favour him to get the job done in the early rounds of this one.

Olympian Jones makes pro debut

2024 Olympic bronze medalist, Omari Jones makes a professional debut, and he should get past Alessio Mastronunzio (14-5, 4 KOs) inside schedule.

Remaining Undercard

In the remaining ten rounders, former world title challenger Jamaine Ortiz (18-2-1, 9 KOs) can win on points at super lightweight against Yomar Alamo (22-3-1, 13 KOs), and at welterweight, Jose Roman Vazquez can win his rematch against Jalil Hackett (9-1, 7 KOs), with Vazquez (14-1, 6 KOs) taking a split decision victory in December.

The sole eight rounder is at welterweight, where Pablo Valdez (8-0, 7 KOs) can win early once more, this time against Mauro Maximiliano Godoy (37-10-1, 18 KOs).

In a four round super featherweight affair, Carlos Jamil De Leon Castro (3-0, 2 kOs) can get the better of Carl Rogers (3-1) on points.
