Wladimir Klitschko is in the midst of his training camp for his next fight, against the undefeated Mariusz Wach. Klitschko held a media day to discuss his preparations and let people take a peek at his training and how it’s coming. Take a look at some photos, videos and other notes from the Wladimir Klitschko training camp media day.
UPDATE: Rumors of Emmanuel Steward’s death surface
One of the major topics was the absence of Emmanuel Steward, who has been dealing with health issues. Klitschko rejects the notion that Steward’s absence will affect his game plan, nor does it signal the end of their relationship, or the end of Steward’s career as a top trainer.
Klitschko also discusses the challenge of facing Wach, who is the first opponent he has met who is actually a bit taller than he is. Wach may have a height advantage, but his experience is extremely limited, to be certain.
With Klitschko in training camp is undefeated American heavyweight Deontay Wilder, and he just celebrated his 27th birthday. Wilder has been his chief sparring partner, which is an interesting combination. Many would say Klitschko is facing a much more talented and tough sparring partner than he is opponent come fight night.
